Jamie’s path to guide dogs began with a bachelor’s degree in Marine Science and six years of training exotic animals. During that time, she worked with everything from tigers to elephants, developing a deep appreciation for the relationships built through trust, consistency, and communication. For the past 20 years, Jamie has worked in the guide dog industry as a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor (GDMI), serving in training and leadership roles at Guiding Eyes for the Blind and Guide Dogs of America before joining Guide Dogs of Texas as Program Manager. In her current role, she supports the training team while also overseeing the breeding and puppy development programs, drawing on years of experience across every stage of a guide dog’s journey. Outside of work, Jamie enjoys free diving and spearfishing with her husband, tending her garden, and spending time with her seven-year-old German Shepherd, Zephyr. She is excited to work alongside the dedicated staff, volunteers, puppy raisers, and clients who make the mission of Guide Dogs of Texas possible.
