Board Member

Karrie Fristoe is a proud Army retiree who fell in love with San Antonio the moment she arrived to begin her military career in 1988. She commanded units from platoon through brigade level, including several operational and humanitarian deployments. After 27 years as a Medical Service Corps Officer, she retired at the rank of Colonel. Following her military retirement, she served as Program Manager for the U.S. Army Medical Command Sustainability Project. Karrie and her husband, Jon, also a Colonel, sought to continue serving in meaningful ways. They immediately became involved in community service projects throughout the San Antonio area. Karrie served on the board of the Fiesta San Antonio Commission Foundation and held numerous board positions with both the Military-Civilian Charitable Foundation and the Military-Civilian Club, including president of both organizations. She also served on two Courts for Fiesta’s Rey Feo LXX and LXXV, raising funds and promoting education across the region. Her work with Rey Feo inspired her to publish her first children’s book, The Rise of El Rey Feo, which she uses to promote the importance of education. Karrie is a graduate of the Master Leadership Program of San Antonio, Class XVII. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Baylor University, and a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. Karrie and Jon have one son, who is an airline captain. Karrie grew up with Labrador Retrievers, but her current family member is her Yorkie, Thor.
